Practice One - Hamilton leads the way in India |
2011-10-28 15:37:00 |
| McLaren's Lewis Hamilton stole the fastest time from the Red Bull drivers right at the end of the first hour and a half-long practice session at a dusty Buddh International Circuit on Friday morning.
Many simulations had predicted an ultimate lap time of 1m 27s, but after local heroes Karun Chandhok and Narain Karthikeyan had opened the bidding with 1m 52.148s and 1m 45.906s respectively, the best lap time fell progressively as the ever-present dust got blown away by the passage of the cars and the track slowly began to rubber in and get rid of some of its surface oils.

2011-10-25 17:57:00 |
| Lotus tester Karun Chandhok has lost out on the chance to race in front of his home crowd at this weekend's inaugural Indian event, after the team decided to retain regular line-up Heikki Kovalainen and Jarno Trulli for the New Delhi race. Chandhok, however, will be in action in the T128 during Friday's opening practice session.
I am very excited about driving at the new Buddh International Circuit in FP1 in front of my home crowd and while I am obviously disappointed that I won't have the chance to race on Sunday, I accept the team's decision to opt for the experience and talent they have at their disposal with Jarno and Heikki, explained the 27 year-old.

Practice One - Webber leads Red Bull one-two in Australia |
2011-03-25 12:36:00 |
| The 2011 F1 season finally kicked off this morning in Melbourne's Albert Park - with a bang. Test driver Karun Chandhok got as far as Turn Four on his out lap before losing grip and cannoning into the wall, severely damaging his Lotus T128.
After that, it took more than half an hour before Pastor Maldonado in the Williams became the first man to set a lap time. Soon, however, Red Bull moved to the front as expected, with Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel taking it in turns to go fastest until the Australian slammed in a 1m 26.831s best right at the end to beat the German's 1m 27.158s by 0.327s.

| Drivers: Rubens Barrichello (Williams), Karun Chandhok (HRT), Kamui Kobayashi (BMW Sauber) and Nico Rosberg (Mercedes).
Q: Karun, obviously a very steep learning curve for you this year. Tell us about it.
Karun Chandhok: It is not ideal. I don't think anyone in F1 has gone straight into qualifying without testing or a single lap of free practice. Bahrain was far from ideal. It is going to be very tough. With the car we didn't do any winter testing. We are two months behind the programme, but we will keep chipping away and see where we end up. Melbourne was a step forward. We got one
