Daniel Ricciardo Q&A: I must deliver on Toro Rosso opportunity |
2012-01-13 22:59:00 |
| Toro Rosso are always ready to spring a surprise with their driver line-ups, as we saw with the untimely exits of Scott Speed (2007) and Sebastian Bourdais (2009). Nevertheless, the decision to oust both Sebastien Buemi and Jaime Alguersuari for 2012 really packed a punch.
Opting instead for youthful talents Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Eric Vergne is a daring move, but they say fortune favours the brave and Ricciardo is determined...

Buemi lands Red Bull test and reserve role |
2012-01-05 18:19:00 |
| Red Bull have announced that Sebastien Buemi will become their test and reserve for the 2012 season, supporting racers Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber. Buemi has spent the last three years competing for sister team Toro Rosso but was dropped from the Italian squad at the end of 2011.
It's good to remain with Red Bull for another year and have this opportunity with the world championship-winning team, said the 23 year-old Swiss driver. I would prefer to be driving at the races of course, but working with Red Bull Racing on the development of their car and providing them with feedback throughout the season is the next best thing.

Formula One Fantasy - Toro Rosso's Sebastien Buemi |
2011-10-04 20:08:00 |
| Believe the stereotype and the average Swiss is a quiet, unassuming character, more impressed by precision and punctuality than flare or imagination. But then, in a country where motorsport was banned while he was growing up, Sebastien Buemi is not your typical Swiss.
Asked to go Formula One daydreaming, Buemi conjures up arguably the ultimate F1 dinner party, a grid full of 'fan cars', and a new-and-improved version of Eau Rouge (if such a thing is possible)

Final practice - Webber fastest at sodden Spa |
2011-08-27 19:46:00 |
| For a while it seemed that nobody would venture out to set a lap time at Spa this morning, as Lewis Hamilton described conditions as massively wet, and Jenson Button said they were worse than Canada. But eventually things improved enough to make the effort worthwhile, with the caveat that everyone wanted to preserve rubber.
In the end it was Red Bull's Mark Webber at the top of the times again with 2m 08.988s, from late improver Lewis Hamilton, 0.058s behind on 2m 09.046s for McLaren. Then came Toro Rosso's Jaime Alguersuari who spent most of his track time battling intensely with stable mate Sebastien Buemi

Franz Tost Q&A: Drivers key to Toro Rosso success |
2011-08-15 20:07:00 |
| The recent Hungaroring weekend witnessed some memorable statistics: Jenson Button won on his 200th F1 start and Nico Rosberg made his 100th Grand Prix appearance. Less well publicised was the fact that Scuderia Toro Rosso also hit the tonne.
Team principal Franz Tost paints a very positive picture of those 100 races, even though Toro Rosso's purpose has shifted significantly over the last two years. From being an incubator for future Red Bull Racing drivers, they have transformed into a full-blown constructor, albeit still with a strong focus on breeding. The breeding has been good, as the Budapest result showed, with both Sebastien Buemi and Jaime Alguersuari in the points

Buemi handed five-place grid penalty for Hungary |
2011-07-25 00:43:00 |
| Toro Rosso's Sebastien Buemi has been punished by the German race stewards for his collision with Renault's Nick Heidfeld during Sunday's Nurburgring race. Buemi receives a five-place grid penalty for the next round in Hungary.
After a post-race investigation, the stewards decided the Swiss driver was at fault for the accident with Heidfeld, which occurred on the approach to chicane. Although Buemi managed to continue, the German, whose Renault made contact with the right-rear tyre of the Toro Rosso as he attempted to overtake, retired from the race.

Practice Two - McLaren's turn for a Melbourne one-two |
2011-03-25 16:21:00 |
| McLaren ended the second session of practice first and second in Albert Park on Friday evening, with Jenson Button pipping team mate Lewis Hamilton by 0.132s as only 0.429s covered the top five.
The session began under the threat of rain, which fortunately held off to enable all of the runners bar HRT, whose cars were still not ready, to run on both the hard and the soft Pirellis. There were plenty of off-track incidents, centring around Timo Glock, Sebastien Buemi, Vitaly Petrov, Heikki Kovalainen, Adrian Sutil and Rubens Barrichello, but nobody did any damage as they explored the limits.

Exclusive Sebastien Buemi Q&A: I am hungry for points |
2011-02-21 18:50:00 |
| Team principal Franz Tost openly admits that Toro Rosso's raison d'être is shaping rookies into drivers fit enough for sister squad Red Bull Racing. And as Sebastien Buemi prepares for his third season at Toro Rosso, he has plenty of youngsters from Red Bull's young driver programme breathing down his neck, eager to make it into the sport.
It's clear that for Buemi this is a make-or-break year, but the 22 year-old isn't letting the pressure get to him. He knows that with new rules, new tyres and a new car at his disposal, the playing field had been significantly levelled and he is determined to make the most of it

Adrian Sutil: It was not an easy race. At the beginning it all went right and we had a good pace, so I was quite comfortable with my position and then in the last 20 laps Lewis made a lot of pressure. He arrived really, really fast and he was on the soft tyre. I just tried to do no mistakes and keep my line and concentrate to the end of the race. I knew it was going to be quite a long race and
