2011-12-09 18:02:00 |
| Romain Grosjean will race alongside Kimi Raikkonen at Renault next season, when the team becomes Lotus. It will be Grosjean's second spell competing for the Enstone squad, the Frenchman having made seven Grand Prix starts for them in 2009, and leaves their 2011 drivers Vitaly Petrov and Bruno Senna without confirmed seats.
I am thrilled to be one of the team's race drivers in 2012, said Grosjean. There's a big grin on my face at the prospect of getting behind the wheel of next year's car

Renault: Forward-facing exhausts have been our downfall |
2011-09-28 19:17:00 |
| Renault's early season podium finishes were but a distant memory in Singapore at the weekend, with drivers Bruno Senna and Vitaly Petrov crossing the line in 15th and 17th respectively, two laps down on the Renault-engined Red Bull of winner Sebastian Vettel.
But there is one glimmer of hope for the team. Rather than being stuck in limbo not knowing what has caused their form to dip, Renault believe the issues lie in their innovative forward-facing exhausts. Although initially envied up and down the pit lane, technical director James Allison believes that the concept is flawed - especially at low-speed tracks like Singapore.

Formula One Fantasy - Renault's Vitaly Petrov |
2011-09-20 17:35:00 |
| Getting a foot on the Formula One ladder is hard enough for any young driver, but when you're from a country yet to make a big impression on the sport, it's even harder.
But that's just what Renault's Vitaly Petrov managed last year when he became Russia's first F1 driver. Living the dream he may be, but Petrov still has plenty of other items on his wish list, including driving alongside McLaren's Lewis Hamilton around the streets of St Petersburg and celebrating his first world title with friends in his home town of Vyborg

He lost control of his car going into Turn One, before sliding on the grass and back on to the track at the chicane. Nico Rosberg's Mercedes, Vitaly Petrov's Renault and Liuzzi's own HRT all had to retire on the spot. After a post-race investigation, the stewards decided the Italian driver was at fault for the accident.

Allison: Renault have taken heart from Spa pace |
2011-09-06 23:07:00 |
| Technical director James Allison is hopeful Renault's quest to reclaim their early season pace could be back on the right track after an encouraging performance at the recent Belgium round. Drivers Vitaly Petrov and Bruno Senna both qualified in the top ten and, after a tumultuous race, eventually finished in ninth and 13th respectively.
The team performed extremely well on Saturday in very challenging conditions, Allison explained in an interview on Renault's official website. The race was less satisfactory in terms of points garnered, but in terms of competitiveness this was our strongest race for some time. We looked much more on the pace in Spa than in the previous four Grands Prix.

Petrov was caught up in a collision between McLaren's Lewis Hamilton and Toro Rosso's Jaime Alguersuari during the race's closing stages.
I'm fine, said the Russian in a video on the team's official website. I have some pain in my legs but I should be fine for Canada. I couldn't get out of the car at first as my legs were blocked and I also couldn't feel them. So I thought I have a problem, maybe my legs are broken or something. So I just sat in the car and waited for the people to help me get out of the car.

This year's event - the 18th to be held - was raising money for the reconstruction of the church in Port au Prince, Haiti.
Whilst the Star Team MC, made up of international sports names, was captained by Monaco's very own HSH Prince Albert II, the Formula One side was captained Ferrari's Fernando Alonso.
