The 2007 world champion wrapped up his final day in the R30 on Tuesday, completing 91 laps of Spain's Circuito Ricardo Tormo. Over the two-day test he covered 666 kilometres, the equivalent of more than two Grands Prix race distances.

"It was a good first day! explained the 2007 world champion. Having not driven a Formula One car for two years and obviously with a new team, there is a lot to get used to. Rejuvenated Williams targeting brighter 2012 season |
2012-01-19 00:35:00 |
| There's no doubting the 2011 season was a bitter pill for Williams to swallow. Ninth in the standings after scoring five points was their worst-ever campaign. But rather than going to ground, the British team are intent on making amends to their steadfast fans and fighting their way back up the order.
As a result, changes have been afoot at their Oxfordshire base for some time, with a new engine courtesy of Renault, a revised technical team and - most recently - a new driver in Bruno Senna just some of the alterations underway. And chief operations engineer Mark Gillan is hopeful they will make a difference and that the team could be back fighting in the top ten in 2012.

| After weeks of speculation Renault confirmed on Tuesday that Kimi Raikkonen will make a comeback to race for the team in 2012. Raikkonen, who left the sport at the end of 2009 to pursue a rallying career, has signed a two-year agreement with the team.

My time in the World Rally Championship has been a useful stage in my career as a driver, but I can't deny the fact that my hunger for F1 has recently become overwhelming.
It was an easy choice to return with Lotus Renault GP as I have been impressed by the scope of the team's ambition. Now I'm looking forward to playing an important role in pushing the team to the very front of the grid.
